Wonderful week in Botswana

We had a wonderful week in Botswana.
The flight from Jo’burg to Maun was a bit special. We just barely landed in Gabarone before we went up again and flew to Maun. Thought for a moment that the pilot had landed at the wrong airport. This apparently has to do with the fact that Botswana does not open up for international airlines to fly into Maun.
From we landed in Maun intill we left, everything was a 100% professional. Both camps had local staff who spoke very good English. They did not just know all about the wildlife, they had bachelor and master’s and a lot of knowledge about politics, culture and literature.
Both camps worked closely with research groups.
Chetibe Leliba was an intimate and enjoyable camp. There were individual travellers. First, we experienced watching a herd of 26 wild dogs (20 adults and 6 children) 3 times. We saw 5 leopard, of which was a mother and child, 2 brother lions etc.
The camp was well thought through. Very good local food. A small shop with fine local products (eg baskets and jewelry). We were awakened at 05.00 Breakfast at 05.30.
Â
Seba Camp appeared to be on the next level, regarding comfort. They had two family cabins, and they were good for both children and teenagers. A place I would recommend families with children. We had a boat trip and a tour in a traditional canoe. We saw eight lions in one day (7 +1), and x 2 leopard. An incredible clever and professional guide. He gave us an insight into the entire plant, animal and bird life.
Seba has a very diverse bird life, and we thought it was interesting.
On Seba we had a talk about elephants from one of the research groups. We enjoyed it.

Â
The food was good here too, a little more spaghetti and pizza (the children like that).
Sundowners were in both places, and that Mathias would have milk as his Sundowner drink was no problem.

Chetibe was half full, while Seba had only 8-9 people (us included). They have room for 22. Chetibe (the big sister camp) has 75% American guests. They often travel in groups and can be a bit “Noisy”:
