Day 1: Arrival Durban, the cultural capital of South Africa. We meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel on the beachfront "The Golden Mile". Relaxation after the long flight. Day 2: You head north to visit the people of the heavens, Zululand, where you will get to know the mighty Zulu nation. Overnight in an authentic Zulu village, in traditional huts of high standard. Tasty traditional food is served. Day 3-4: Safari on horseback in the largest wetlands in South Africa, along Banghazi Lake and the endless, empty beaches by the Indian Ocean. There are herds of antelopes, buffalos, elephants, an amazing bird-life and the largest population of hippos and crocodiles in Africa. Day 5: Deep-sea fishing. Day 6-9: 4 nights safari on foot in the large game reserve Hluhluwe-Umfolozi, "hunting" for "The Big Five" (elephant, rhino, lion, leopard and buffalo). The hike starts off with a night in "base camp", the following two nights are out in the bush at a "satellite camp", before returning to base camp again for the last night. Two game rangers accompany the group. Day 10-13: The mighty mountain range Drakensberg is the next target. The mountain range marks the border to Lesotho: the "highest" country in Africa. Possibilities to golf an 18-hole course of top standard, maybe you will meet a zebra at hole 16. Other options are to go horseback riding or hiking in the mountains. Baboons, mountain antelopes and Black Eagles keep you company. Day 14 -15: Tropical beaches and the Indian Ocean are calling. Drive back to Durban. Whale safari, golf, water sports and beaches. We will gladly take you on a shopping-safari; South Africa is world-renowned as the country of gold and diamonds. Day 16: Departure from Durban in the afternoon. |
