In this example you will experience a lot of what South Africa has to offer: Cape Peninsula, Garden Route, Zululand with safari, beaches and culture, the mighty Drakensberg mountains and Johannesburg.

Day 1: Arrival Cape Town. There are numerous things to experience and see in Cape Town. Centre of Cape Town: Waterfront, Green Square Market and enjoy the sunset over Cape Town from Table Mountain. Accommodation centrally by "The Waterfront". (B)

Day 2: We recommend the wine route! Full day with visits to four or five of the fantastic wine estates. (B)

Day 3: Cape of Good Hope, Chapmans Peak, Simon’s Town to see the unique Jackass penguins. (B)

Day 4: Boat trip to the famous prison-island: Robben Island. (B)

Day 5: Cape Town – George. You travel through some of the wine-districts. The coastal area between George and Port Elizabeth is known for the lush vegetation and the many small cosy villages along the route: The Garden Route. Overnight in the Wilderness area. (B)

Day 6-7: Garden Route: The art- and oyster-town Knysna. Enjoy fresh oysters at one of the many restaurants alongside the harbour. Visit some of the small studios and art shops. Or take a trip to the famous Tsitsikamma National Park. Overnight in Knysna. (B)

Day 8: Knysna – Port Elizabeth. The towns and adventures are lined up. Enjoy lunch by Storms River Mouth, or go for a horseback ride in the sand dunes. Overnight in Port Elizabeth. (B)

Day 9-10: Fly from Port Elizabeth to Durban in the morning. Durban is known as South Africa’s cultural capital. Accommodation at hotel of high standard along "The Golden Mile". In Durban there should be something for everybody: shopping, beach, surfing, restaurants from all corners of the world, visit the largest herbal market in the world and other colourful markets. Dolphin- and whale-safari, and shark centre. (B)

Day 11: You travel north to the country of heavens: Zululand, and to Simunye Zulu village. To get to the village you either ride horseback or go in an ox-wagon, down into the untouched valley where the Bayela clan reigns. A proper cultural experience: spear throwing, stick fighting, a visit to the local chief, song and dance. Accommodation is in traditional Zulu huts of good quality, and you are served traditional and tasteful meals. The place only accommodates 28 people, and is out of the ordinary tourist route. (B/D)

Day 12-13: Safari! "The Big Five" is on the agenda. Accommodation in the oldest game reserve in Africa: Hluhluwe-Umfolozi. The reserve is particularly known for its work to save the rhino from extinction. Of the world’s total of 6000 rhinos, almost 2000 can be found in this reserve. (B/D)

Day 14-15: After breakfast you head for one of the most exciting places in South Africa, St. Lucia. Here you find the largest brackish lake in Africa, highest population of hippos and a fantastical rich bird life. Boat cruise among hippos and crocodiles. We recommend a day-drive through this nature reserve, a recently declared UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the road ends in paradise: Cape Vidal! Sandy beaches as far as your eye can see. Optimal possibilities for snorkelling and fishing. You can also go deep-sea fishing. How about catching a Marlin? Exciting! (B)

Day 16-17: You continue further north to Africa’s second oldest game reserve: Pongola Biosphere. Sunset boat cruise on the Jozini dam and searching for the elephants. Accommodation at "UmKhaya Bush Camp". (B/L/D)

Day 18-20: Time to head west towards the mountains and the drive takes you via some of the historical battlefields. This is where the important wars between, English, Boers and Zulus were fought. Drakensberg: The mountain range running all the way through South Africa, and here in the central berg you find the highest peaks. The peaks are up to 3400 metres high. Overnight at the foot of the mountain, an altitude of 1800 m. Numerous options: hiking, horseback riding, golf, helicopter tours, visit to arts projects. (B)

Day 21: Drive to Johannesburg to catch the flight back home.
