Tour Namibia
Namibia, a most desired target for holiday makers. The country is named after the vast Namibia Desert. The most familiar picture of Namibia: Massive sand dunes under a clear blue sky. Sossusvlei, Swakopmund, Damaraland, Etosha and Windhoek give you a fine picture of what this arid, but beautiful country offers.
Tour Overview
Day 1 |
Windhoek. A shuttle service at the airport takes you to the guest house by arrival in Namibia. The capital is situated on the central plains surrounded by mountains. The location provides you most probably with sun from a clear sky, mild temperature during the day and cold nights (rarely below zero). Windhoek is known as the windy city, hence the name. Here you will find a rich variety of arts and souvenirs, from drums and wooden carvings along the sidewalks and gemstones and jewels in the shops. You stay in a fine guest house with a recognized restaurant within easy walking distance from the city centre. (B) 1 night. |
Day 2 & 3 |
Windhoek - Sossusvlei, approx. 300 km. The region is known for its towering dunes and magnificent star shaped mountains. The colour of the dunes varies from light apricot to deep red strikingly contrasting the wide white plains surrounding the dunes. You stay in a grand lodge on the only property directly border on Sossusvlei, Kulala Desert Camp. (B/D) 2 nights.
We recommend a full day in Sesriem and Sossusvlei. You may have a guided tour or go on your own. Hot air balloon costs 2 500 Zar per person. Quad-bike tour can be arranged. There are many beautiful walks in this area.
Provided your budget allows it, upgrading to Little Kulala is recommended. |
Day 4 |
Sossusveli - Swakopmund, approx. 300 km. Next stop is Namibia's foremost tourist destination; Swakopmund. The town was founded in 1892 and has a rich variety of historical buildings. It is like an oasis between ocean, desert and dunes. You may study the environment better from horseback or in a light plane to Fish River Canyon and Skeleton Coast. The Hansa Hotel is an old snug family hotel in the very centre of Swakopmund. Not really with a view, but mentioned in the travel handbooks as a must. (B) 3 nights. |
Day 5 |
This is the place to go sand boarding. We recommend you spend a day of boarding or quad biking in the dunes. Pick up at the hotel 09H00. Half an hour later you can start boarding. The activities usually take 3 to 4 hours. Price about N$ 400. |
Day 6 |
Self drive up along the coast to Cape Cross on the saline road. This is where you'll find the largest land based seal colonies in the world. You'll never forget the smell! |
Day 7 & 8 |
Swakopmund to Twyfelfontein Damaraland, approx. 370 km. Right here in the heart of Damaraland you'll find the Damara people, the country's oldest people in addition to the Bush men. Twyfelfontein was declared national monument in 1952 for its comprehensive collection of cave paintings and etchings. It dates from 1 000 to 10 000 years back in history, most of them are 6 000 years old. We also recommend the basalt columns "Organ Pipes" and the Petrified Forest with its 300 million year's old petrified trunks. And last, not least: Go elephant safari and try to spot the elusive desert elephants. An experience for life. You stay in Doro Nawas. (B/D) 2 nights. |
Day 9 & 10 |
