SAFARI AND BEACH IN MOZAMBIQUE
Experience Africa's reborn wilderness in Gorongosa and the island idyll of Benguerra Island. This is an adventurous journey that combines safari and beach life in Mozambique, an experience that reminds us why we fall in love with Africa again and again.
DAY 1: WELCOME TO MOZAMBIQUE
You arrive in Beira (easily accessible, including with Ethiopian Airlines) and board a small plane that will take you to Gorongosa National Park, known as “The Rising Star of Mozambique”A park once devastated by civil war, Gorongosa today stands as a vibrant and thriving ecosystem. Gorongosa is a symbol of how conservation, local collaboration, passion and sustainable tourism can work hand in hand.
Here you combine accommodation at Chicari Camp and Muzimu Lodge. These are the only two camps/lodges in the entire national park.
DAY 2: CHICARI CAMP, GORONGOSA
The day is dedicated to learning more about the fascinating journey to Gorongosa. You will receive a guided talk about the Gorongosa Restoration Project – an initiative that, in close collaboration with local communities, has helped to restore animal populations and allow nature to return.
You will visit the EO Wilson Biodiversity Research Laboratory, where you will meet local park rangers and gain insight into how the park combines science, education and local community development. Later in the day, you can join a coffee farm visit or a rainforest hike to Mount Gorongosa.
The evening ends with a sundowner and dinner under the African starry sky.
DAYS 3-5: MUZIMU LODGE, GORONGOSA
After a morning game drive and breakfast, you will visit the Pangolin Guardians to learn about their important work to protect one of Africa's most endangered species.
Together with your guide, you will plan your days in Gorongosa. You can join guided hikes, morning and afternoon safaris or relax at the lodge. On safari, you can expect to see lions, elephants, African wild dogs, hippos and sable antelopes. Gorongosa is also an eldorado for bird lovers, with over 400 species in the park.
Gorongosa is a hidden safari gem for those who want more than just a safari experience. It is where conservation, research and meaningful tourism meet in a truly unique way.
DAY 6: BENGUERRA ISLAND
After a morning game drive or a leisurely morning at the lodge, you will fly to Benguerra Island, part of the Bazaruto Archipelago. Mozambique’s coastline is among the most pristine in Africa, and here you will find chalk-white beaches, charming island culture, turquoise seas and spectacular marine wildlife. This is the perfect transition from the pulse of the wilderness to the calm rhythm of the ocean.

DAY 7-10: AZURA MARLIN BEACH
Days on Benguerra Island are all about relaxation, adventure and true island life. Take time for a long breakfast and spend one of the days visiting some of the local projects on the island.
Explore the untouched beauty of the archipelago with a guided tour Island hopping-trip, and enjoy a picnic on a secluded beach. If you are curious about underwater life, this is a perfect place for snorkeling and diving in crystal clear waters and colorful coral reefs. In the afternoon, you can sail on a traditional dhow cruise as the sun sets. Maybe you even get to try your hand at being a captain?
On the last evening, you will enjoy a gala dinner under the stars, with the sound of the ocean as a backdrop.
DAY 11: DEPARTURE
Enjoy a final morning with a refreshing swim and breakfast overlooking the Indian Ocean before flying back to the mainland. Depart from Vilanculos – filled with memories of a journey that combines Africa’s wilderness, community and paradise.
